Have you seen the incredible pink-colored lakes in Australia or Africa on Instagram? Well, did you know that there is also a pink lake in Spain? It is one of the most easily accessible pink lakes (especially for Americans) in the world. I had the unique opportunity to visit and take in the Lago Rosa or Laguna Rosa de Torrevieja and I would love to help you discover this well-kept secret too!

Where is the pink lake in Spain?

The Lago Rosa is located in the coastal town of Torrevieja, which is located on Spain’s Costa Blanca. Torrevieja is a small, sleepy town where there are two major attractions: Lago Rosa and the beach! It may seem out of the way for most vacationers, but it’s more conveniently located than you would originally think.

How do I get to Torrevieja?

There are several different options of getting to Torrevieja.

  • Bus: There are busses that depart from major cities (Madrid, Valencia) that you can take to Torrevieja. However, the options are limited due to the size of the town. If you are looking for more options via bus, the best bus selections are from Alicante, a major city with many people. I find Omio to be the best site/app for finding transportation.
  • Blablacar: Blablacar is a rideshare app that works similar to Uber. It is safe to use and very popular in Spain. This app allows you to search your destination and reserve a seat in a car that is already heading there. This can also be a great way to get some extra Spanish practice in, as most of the drivers are locals.

We opted for blablacar because it’s the cheapest and best option for our schedule. We started in Madrid and rode with locals of Torrevieja who were currently living in Madrid for 5 hours until we reached the sleepy city.

For me, this is the perfect amount of time, as there are infinite charming beach towns on Spain’s Costa Blanca
