Constantly people ask me, “What are the best foods in Europe?”
After all of my experiences in different countries, it was difficult to determine a favorite food.
Europe has many cuisine options, which made it hard to pick just one. Here’s a comprehensive list of my five favorites:

#1 Best Food in Europe: Savory Crepes
Brother’s Crepes and Café, Paris
A well-known cafe in the charming neighborhood of Montmartre specializes in savory crepes.
Many people recognize the traditional ham and cheese crepe, however, the owners of Brother’s put their own spin on a French tradition.
Could you imagine filling your own crepe with almost any topping you can think of?
This is called the “Mumbai,” which has chopped chicken, mushrooms, green peppers, cheese, and curry sauce. It’s THAT good where I felt it was necessary to order another one. By far my favorite meal that I tried while visiting this country.
If you visit Paris, you’ll need to try this delicious treat. This handheld dish will allow you to walk a couple of blocks to Moulin Rouge. I love how Brother’s took a traditional Parisian staple and made it their own.
#2 Best Food in Europe: Panini
Panini Toscani, Florence
Florence, Italy is well-known for the infamous Panini!
Many restaurants compete for the honor of “best Panini.” I would argue that Panini Toscani deserves that title.
The quaint little shop tucked behind the Duomo gave me the most memorable experience.
When I first walked in, I felt lost. There were fresh loaves of bread, tons of cheeses, and a large selection of meats.
With help from a sweet older gentleman, I was taught how to create the perfect panini. I can easily say that this was the best sandwich I have ever eaten.
I noticed throughout the day, Panini Toscani and others were constantly busy and I sure know why. When you get the chance to visit Florence, be sure to create your own Panini!

#3 Best Food in Europe: Tortilla de Española
La Buha, Madrid or Pez Tortilla, Madrid
I love tortillas with all their shapes, sizes, and even fillings!
This quickly became a staple in my diet while living in Spain.
A traditional tortilla is simply eggs, potatoes, and onions, which are delicious in their simplest form. Most restaurants, bars, and cafés carry some form of Tortilla.
It’s common to add ham or chorizo. In my opinion, two restaurants compete for the best tortilla: La Buha and Pez Tortilla.
Every Thursday I caught myself visiting La Buha where I would order their famous tortilla filled with manchego cheese, sautéed peppers, and accompanied by their homemade sauces.
For 12 euro, I could feed myself and few friends.
Pez Tortilla, another one of my favorites, featured a variety of flavors, which rotated frequently. They’re known for a ham and truffle option that had many of my visitors WOW’d!
Most people enjoyed pairing the tortilla with a croquetta (Fried balls of potato, cheese, and ham) but always had to wait until 7 p.m.
#4 Best Food In Europe: Savory Waffles
Peck 47, Brussels
Who doesn’t love a good brunch? Brunch was one of my favorite meals while visiting Brussels and it’s because they are known for creating a “waffle benedict.”
I love anything topped with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce, but when they added a waffle I was simply amazed.
Fun fact: Belgium is known for their waffles, but Peck 47, a charming restaurant in Brussels, puts a savory spin on them.
Pictured to the left is “The Peck Special,” chorizo and cheese-filled waffle, topped with bacon, hollandaise sauce, and two poached eggs.
In my opinion, this is the perfect brunch food that is served all day long.
#5 Best Food in Europe: Fresh Pasta
Dal Moro’s Fresh Pasta, Venice
Italy is known for sit-down restaurants, fancy wine, and the best pasta in the world.
When visiting Italy, I was pleasantly surprised that delicious pasta can also be to-go!
I was given the recommendation to visit Dal Moro’s, a small to-go pasta shop located in the heart of Venice.
With hesitation I promised my friend I would give it a try and I’m so thankful I did. My family and I each picked a pasta dish to try so I was able to taste most of the menu.
My absolute favorite was their Carbonara and the Pesto pasta was a close second. Venice has many surprises and a to-go pasta shop was definitely one of them.
Honorable Mention: Döner Kebab
I wasn’t lying that picking my top 5 was going to be difficult! The trusty drunk food called Döner Kebab saved me on many late nights in Europe. After a few beverages, I craved the pita, shaved meat, and fresh veggies that the kebab had to offer.
I was a frequent visitor of my local kebab shop “El Turkito” while living in Madrid. Though my location was in Madrid, Kebab’s are known throughout Europe. My roommates and I made it a point to try Kebab’s all over the continent after a few cervezas.
